Glorifying and accomplishing

I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.
John 17:4

Glorifying and accomplishing
In today’s Bible passage, the Lord Jesus speaks about His life on earth and about His death on the cross.

The Son of God came as a man to the earth to glorify the Father here. He represented Him in all His attributes. Both in His life and in His death, He revealed God as Father. In Jesus Christ, the Son of God incarnate, it was made visible that God is love and that He gave His own Son so that lost people could be saved. At the same time, the Lord Jesus showed that God is light and demands punishment for sins. This was particularly evident in His death, when Christ bore our sins in divine judgment and was made sin for us.

The Lord Jesus also accomplished in His life and in His death the work that the Father had given Him to do. God the Father made a plan in eternity: He wanted people who are suited to His holy presence and enjoy His love to be with Him. To make this possible, the Son of God had to become man and give His life on the cross. He carried out this work perfectly, so that the eternal plan of God could be fulfilled. All who believe in the Lord Jesus are children of God and will one day dwell in the Father’s house.

We admire the Lord Jesus, in the way He glorified His Father and accomplished the divine work!

NEGATIVE LIVING

Life comprises of positive and negative elements. As a matter of necessity, it is not good for someone to opt for negative living. The fact that Jesus Christ was destined to die for the sin of the whole world does not exonerate Judas Iscariot from the evil that led him to the idea of betraying the King of Glory....More
