Precious words

More to be desired are they than gold, yeah, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Psalm 19:10–11

Precious words
The theme in Psalm 19:7–11 is the written Word of God. David refers to it, among other things, as the “statutes of the LORD” and the “judgments of the LORD”. He is aware that God’s communications are binding. Therefore, he makes them the standard for his life. For him this is not a poor, dry matter, but rather a gain and a joy at the same time. That’s why he compares the Word of God to gold and honey.

o The Bible is more precious than gold. This precious metal has retained high value to this day and is used by wealthy individuals to securely invest part of their assets. However, the Word of God is much more valuable than refined gold. In this precious book we find Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Lord. When we read the Bible, we continually discover something about His glorious person. Moreover, God makes promises to us in His Word that are more valuable than all the riches of the world.

o The Bible is sweeter than honey. It is said of the land of Israel that it flowed with milk and honey. It was fertile and provided people with ample food for enjoyment. However, the Word of God is more delightful than the finest food. It not only provides momentary pleasure but lasting joy. When we read the Bible attentively, we experience what Jeremiah 15:16 says: “Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart.”

Today’s reading: 2 Chronicles 9:13-31 · Revelation 1:12-20

UNCOVERING EVIL

The presence of the supernatural power of God in a church can take that church beyond limits.
It can also uproot the presence of evil in the midst of Gods children. In Acts 5, a couple were uprooted through this. If we are going to sanitise the church, we need the Holy Spirit. Just as we need Him to heal, save...More

And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; ...More

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)

In the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time, but has manifested in its own due season His word.
(Titus 1:2-3)

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)
I can lie. Titus could too, and so could the Cretans. But God can not lie. I can deceive. But...More
