God's dealings and the Person of Jesus Christ...

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Matthew 7:7

Johnny was a teenager who lived in a big city. Computer games filled his spare time. At the age of 15, he was addicted to them. He then started taking drugs with His friends. Occasionally, he became involved in a fight. He left school and one day was arrested for again causing bodily harm.
That was not the life that Johnny had wished for. He slid into depression. Later he began thinking about God. Did He exist? He switched on his computer and started googling. Much that he found failed to satisfy him. Theological articles and arguments, different statements of faith from various churches and sects - that was not what he sought.
Finally he hit on a homepage that gave not simply religious opinions; the explanations always referred to the Bible. God's dealings and the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ were an integral part of the text. Johnny sensed: "This is what I have been looking for." He read on for hours. Some of his questions were clarified; but new ones arose. He availed himself of the sender's offer, sent him an E-mail and eagerly awaited the response. It was not just a short message but detailed answers to his questions. Again the explanations were based on the Bible, the Word of God.
Now a regular exchange of messages started. Johnny found what he had been seeking. He did what the Bible said: He confessed his sins before God and by faith accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour. Now that he joyfully follows Christ, his life is completely changed and makes sense.
Today's reading: Ezekiel ch.2 & 3, vv. 1-14

BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY

Yesterday we learnt it is not right for us to get angry with God or to take offence against Him, even if we experience the deferment of our hopes. The example of John the Baptist who earlier acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, but later doubted Him because of his painful experience of incarceration is a warning...More

Don't Lose Sight

...when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem...
Luke 2:45

We might as well face it, strife has even infiltrated our church life. It is true enough that the Church is now the Church militant. But, as such, its warfare ought to be that of dedication to revealed truth and divine...More
