From darkness to light (3)

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
2 Corinthians 4:4

From darkness to light (3)
One occasion when it became clear to me that God would not let me sink in the mire was when I intended flying to India to devote my life to meditation learning at the feet of a guru.
Before leaving, I wanted to say goodbye to the old life in an infamous drug disco in a large city. Among all the people pumped full with drugs, an elderly woman caught my attention. I watched her cross the dance floor, fall and lie there. When no-one troubled about her, I ran over to help her. I never expected what would happen after that. I was looking into a shining face and heard her say two sentences that really meant something: "Look what I have in my hand." It was a small wooden crucifix representing the crucified Jesus. Then the woman said to me: "Hey, you! God is looking at you!" I ran out of the disco, as if struck by lightning.
I knew very well that God was seeking me. In my heart I sensed that he wanted to prevent me from sinking further into the mire. But I still didn't want to respond.
That was just one of many strange occurrences in my life that I understood to be God's ultimate sign. Every time I said "No!" to God, I went one step further down in the miry clay. And God's antagonist drew his invisible net tight around me.
(to be continued tomorrow)
Today's reading: Ezekiel ch. 45

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
