From darkness to light (4)

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Revelation 3:20

From darkness to light (4)
What transpired after that was a day in India, my return and the task of building up a religious community in a European town.
There I was, a captive in an eastern religion. We used to meditate, besides trying to recruit others for hinduistic thinking and the Indian "leader". We worked and donated our money, apart from a little pocket money, to this task. In our deception and blindness, we even approved of our teacher living in a palatial building and driving a Rolls Royce.
I was trapped in the golden cage of my religion and at the same time a slave to the ideology of the "religious community".
How might my life have proceeded, if God had not "knocked" once again? Do you know what it means to be saved, as Peter was from drowning? The strong arm of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, saved me, when I was so nearly totally submerged that I could not even cry out, "Lord, save me!".
This is how it happened: I wanted to visit a friend who had given up meditating and motivate him to start again. Instead, he told me how he had found Jesus Christ, and that there was a living God who was also interested in me. I first thought, "Just let him talk away!" My inner disapproval weakened, however, when he told me his experience in more detail, then stated, "Ralph, Jesus loves you, too!"
So God did trouble about me!
(to be continued tomorrow)
Today's reading: Ezekiel ch. 46

YOU CAN BE HIS WITNESS

As a bona fide member of the Kingdom of God, you must be a proof of His power to save. Matthew 1:21 says Jesus shall save His people from sin.

BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY

Yesterday we learnt it is not right for us to get angry with God or to take offence against Him, even if we experience the deferment of our hopes. The example of John the Baptist who earlier acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, but later doubted Him because of his painful experience of incarceration is a warning...More

Don't Lose Sight

...when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem...
Luke 2:45

We might as well face it, strife has even infiltrated our church life. It is true enough that the Church is now the Church militant. But, as such, its warfare ought to be that of dedication to revealed truth and divine...More
