Once he spent a whole night over the Bible...

And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Acts 16:31

He was a successful weight-lifter and had been a top-ranking sportsman for some years. Then illness and injury set him back so that he gave up his sport and started working in a mine. A believer in Christ was also employed there, but he had drifted from the Christian pathway.
One day the latter said to our weight-lifter; "You are a Catholic, but you don't really know the Bible! Want to bet?" That word went home for the former sportsman. When he returned home after his shift, an inner urge made him fetch his Bible, which lay unused on a shelf. Within a week he had read it from cover to cover.
Once he spent a whole night over the Bible. The next morning he left home too late to catch the bus that normally took him to work. The thought struck him: "Go all the same, you'll get there on time."
In this situation he prayed to God, "If you really exist, then show me today!" Suddenly an empty bus came by and stopped unexpectedly. The door opened for our sportsman and took him to the mine without his saying a word.
God had shown him! It was not long before the message of the cross overpowered that man. He knew that he was a sinner, and he accepted Jesus Christ and His atoning work by faith. The one sentence that Christian had uttered led to a real revival in that mine. Even the Christian who had drifted away was led back to the pathway of faith.
Today's reading: Proverbs ch.1,vv.20-33

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

ATTENTIVE TO THE MASTER'S INSTRUCTIONS?

It is always good to pay close attention to instructions given by someone you claim to be your guide or guardian. Often, we miss many opportunities, breakthroughs and victories because we fail to see the details of the instructions given to us on a subject. A multinational company once held a promotional exam for...More
