The Lord Jesus made the perfect sacrifice at Calvary...

For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
Hebrews 10:14

There are plenty of people who have confessed their sins to Christ and believe in Him. But they are too occupied with themselves instead of relying on His finished work. That makes them uncertain and they lack the full assurance of salvation.
In Hebrews chapter 10, we often find the words "no more". In v.2 we have "no more consciousness of sins"; in v.17 "Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more." Similarly in v.18: "There is no longer an offering for sin."
The Lord Jesus made the perfect sacrifice at Calvary. No further offering for sin is necessary; it would indeed be impossible. God has accepted Christ's atoning sacrifice, confirming its perfect, eternal validity.
On the basis of that sacrifice, God justifies everyone who comes to Him in repentance and faith. He tells them that He will no more remember the sins of those who believe in Christ, His Son. Finally, the Word of God testifies that for the believer, there is "no more consciousness of sins" (v.2).
Imagine there were a long list of all my sins in heaven, as God knows them. That would correspond to God's memory. By contrast, the few sins that I could remember would correspond to my "consciousness of sins". God forgives all those sins in His memory - that includes the few that we can remember and that plague our conscience.
What an immense blessing it is to have been "perfected for ever"!
Today's reading: Proverbs ch.3,vv.1-20
