Cedar wood

The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Psalm 92:12, Isaiah 40:31

Cedar wood
There it stood: the oldest pyramid in the world! It was more than 4,000 years old, they said. The group of tourists listened attentively to the Egyptologist giving all the historical details concerning the gigantic edifice. Then he pointed out one particular item, and all eyes were fixed on something brown that was not made of stone. The guide explained: "They are beams of cedar wood from Lebanon, transported here by boat, that have kept for 4,000 years without rotting."
The cedar is a tree that grows slowly; its wood is especially resistant to decay and aggressive insects.
Dear Christian friends, we sometimes discover that our growth and spiritual development take time. But their complete formation takes a whole lifetime. Is it our job to watch and evaluate our spiritual progress? Let us leave that to the Lord and seek to please Him day by day! We are in the school of a wise, patient God. There, with our daily responsibilities at work or in the family, we are being taught by Him to have more fellowship with Him, more dependence on Him and more trust in Him.
"He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6). Let us pray regularly to the Lord Jesus, read His Word, seek the company of other Christians and "not grow weary while doing good" (Galatians 6:9).
Today's reading: 1 Timothy 1

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

REWARD FOR LABOUR

Jacob sojourned with Laban and laboured for him for several years. At first, his host was cheating him at every opportunity, and the years of his hard labour were almost in vain. Down the line, God had to intervene to enable Jacob eat the fruit of his labour. For a reader of this devotional, in every area that you...More

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"

Bible in one year:
