God does not lie

That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
Hebrews 6:18

God does not lie
Some people often tell lies, sometimes blatantly. They "lie through their teeth", as the saying goes. On other occasions they lie so skillfully that the truth does not come to light until years later, if at all. Who can be trusted without reserve? How many have put their trust in someone and been disappointed!
For any who have had this experience, today's verse is good news: God never disappoints us! He does not lie. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, once said, "I am the truth" (John 14:6). To the question, "Who are you?" He could truthfully and rightfully reply, "Just what I have been saying to you" (John 8:25).
Jesus Christ is the truth in Person. We can trust Him unreservedly, when he says, "He who hears my word and believes in him who sent me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life" (John 5:24).
Which of us could face God's judgment without any worry? The very thought that our whole past will one day come to light must make everyone feel uncomfortable. But Jesus Christ gave His life for us at the cross of Calvary. Therefore everyone who puts faith in Him receives the forgiveness of sins and eternal life and will not come into judgment. He has assured us of this in His Word. And God cannot lie. He keeps His promises. The judgment that Christ bore cannot be brought to bear on a believer who has been justified.
Today's reading: 1 Timothy 4

However, there was only one person, spiritually speaking, who was a true Nazarite, and that was our Lord Jesus. He shows us that it is not a negative thing to be separated from the world but rather a...More

Adam found an excuse:

Jeremiah 17:9

In a discussion on the above text with some young people, the question was asked: how are we to understand the word "deceitful" here? After some consideration they reached this conclusion: deceitful means that the heart finds an excuse for everything. This seems a very apt...More
