Procrastination, the thief of time

And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.
Acts 24:25

Procrastination, the thief of time
Most of us know this problem: we have an unpleasant task to perform and put it off; or we have to make a decision with far-reaching consequences, but we can't make our mind up.
A schoolboy puts his homework away without doing it; he hates the subject! A housewife leaves the ironing; it's boring work. We put off going to the dentist's, because we are afraid. It may be that what we put off will right itself in certain circumstances of our lives, but when it is a question of God and eternity, such an attitude will definitely prove disastrous.
The apostle Paul was speaking to the Roman governor Felix about "righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come". That made the man afraid, as he sensed that he had neglected these matters. Now he had the opportunity to confess his failings to God and receive forgiveness. But he could bring himself to do so. Was it only through a lack of time? Everyone is guilty before God; if we wish to escape the judgment to come, we must turn to Him and confess all the guilt of our lives. But we needn't be ashamed to do so. God knows all about us already. People can only obtain forgiveness when they turn to God sincerely, accepting that Jesus Christ, His beloved Son, died on the cross to bear their guilt. And this must be done before "the judgment to come" takes place.
"Behold, now is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:2).
Today's reading: 1 Samuel 4

Given modern trends and need for details, most institutions have various books in which records are kept and can be retrieved in years to come. Every...More
