Religion and faith are not identical

He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Mark 7:6-7;1:15

Religion and faith are not identical
In order to come to God, must we renounce the development of our own personality and assimilate totally the form of a religion or even a sect?
Jesus Christ Himself expressly opposed all formality. He accused the religious leaders of His day of hindering people from coming to God by such insistence. In any case, how could God, who created us with such different feelings, characters and abilities, slight such variety?
Everyone can come to God just as he is, and not in order to adhere to religious rites and forms, but to experience a living relationship with Him. The Christian faith is not a codex of dogma. It is the revelation of God by means of clear facts, particularly the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. The Son of God came to reveal God's love to us. Religious formalities leave mankind in spiritual death; faith in Jesus Christ means freedom and true life that are offered to all gratuitously.
Faith is far from being naïve or credulous. It takes the Bible message seriously, recognising that God is speaking thereby. Neither has true faith anything to do with superstition or fanaticism, but rather with trust and obedience towards God. A Christian does not believe blindly; having learnt that God is always right, he acts accordingly.
Today's reading: 1 Samuel 25:18-44

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, ...

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
