A preacher of the gospel once spoke to a stranger...

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Revelation 21:4

A preacher of the gospel once spoke to a stranger. The latter told him, "You have told me what you believe, but I don't believe what you preach."
"Perhaps you would tell what you believe then," was the preacher's reply - "Well, I believe that with death, everything comes to an end."
"I believe that, too," said the Christian. - "What! You also believe that with death everything comes to an end?"
"Certainly," said the preacher, "Death terminates all that has been until then. There's no further possibility of doing evil. All our wishes and plans are thwarted. All our ambitious striving and all our possessions are a thing of the past. All that comes to an end with death. Then everyone who has not believed God, will go to eternal condemnation."
"As far as I am concerned, death will put an end to all my worries, troubles, and difficulties and all pain and tears, and I shall go to be with my Lord in glory, where eternal joy, peace and happiness await me."
"I've never seen things in that light," replied the critic. The result of that conversation was: that man found peace with God.
With death, all earthly things indeed come to an end. Judgment awaits unbelievers, but God's children go to be with Christ in paradise where it is "far better" (Philippians 1:23). Their future in the glory of heaven is secure and inviolable.
Today's reading: 2 Samuel 16

GOD PROMOTES

When God set out to deliver the children of Israel from Egypt, it was to take them out of captivity and bondage and to lift them up. God has come to take you out of your current location in the miry clay to your promised land - a land flowing with milk and honey. This simply tells us that the God of Abraham, Isaac...More

TRAIN UP YOUR CHILD 1

One major undoing of modern civilized society is an abounding generation of untrained children. This trend did not just start, but has been on for some time now. The result is that many untrained children of few years back have become parents themselves. It is the multiplier effect of their lack of proper home...More

A LIBERAL HEART?

, God asked the widow to feed the prophet before taking care of herself. At the end of the day, what was not enough became more than enough. To what extent do you practice giving as an individual, family, church or nation?

Hebrews 11:24-28

Author Zora Neale Hurston wrote a book titled Moses, Man of the Mountain. Published in 1939, it retells the story of Moses and the Exodus. Hurston altered details of the story for her own purposes, weaving in allusions to African American history, folklore, and song. She reflected...More
