It is understandable that people make provision for their life...

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Matthew 4:4

It is understandable that people make provision for their life. They want it to be preserved and secure. Our daily bread is an important pre-requisite. Being fit for work and having a job are necessary, just as the functioning of the economy and the state are, too.
One day, however, the time will come in our life, when our health fails and our body perhaps can no longer take in food. Then, at the latest, we start wondering whether there isn't more to life than feeding and all the other functions of our body. Man does not live by bread alone.
How are things to continue? Isn't there more than mere physical health and material satisfaction? Perhaps our thoughts have as yet gone no farther than the material side. The spiritual side has been subordinated to the material.
God's intention is that man should do more than live in material things and then die. God wishes to speak to His creature and be heard and understood. That is why He has given him His Word. The Bible is God's Word, and Jesus Christ is the Word, the eternal Word, that became flesh. If the Word of God is imbibed by faith, in the same way as taking in food, we receive life that cannot be touched by the transience and death of the human body. Whoever believes on the Son of God has eternal life. That is life from God, with God and for God (cf. John 3:36).
Do you possess that living faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God? He is the "bread of life" (John 6:48).
Today's reading: Ecclesiastes 12

My times are in Your hand'Psalms 31:15 NKJV

The Psalm writes, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, "You are my God." My times are in your hand' (vv. 14-15 NKJV). As you walk with God you'll find that you spend more time waiting than you do receiving. And when you receive what you're waiting for, then...More

A Statement Of Purpose To Live By

Always give yourselves fully.' 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Next time you pass a McDonald's, think about this statement from the one of the founders: Ray Kroc. Press on! Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent....More
