“Many roads lead to Rome”

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Proverbs 14:12

"Many roads lead to Rome" is a proverbial saying. When it is matter of an earthly destination, he saying is true. Even if I do not find the best way, at some stage I shall reach my destination, possibly somewhat late. When it is a question of our eternal destination, countless people are content to think that we are all on our way to God and shall eventually reach the glory of heaven somehow.
Some take the way of the law. It is a hard, stony pathway. Whoever chooses it, finds himself confronted with God's righteous demands: "Thou shalt " or "Thou shalt not " They were set out in the Ten Commandments that Moses received from the hand of God. Yet although the curse of the law threatens all who do not keep the entire law (and who can?), it is a very popular way. Clearly the thought of contributing something to one's eternal salvation oneself is reassuring.
Other people go the way of good intentions. A proverb states: "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." We can well imagine how often people stumble on this pathway, because no-one has the strength to keep what is proposed. Apparently many who take this pathway overlook the fact that no amount of good intentions can extinguish the sins of the past. What is to become of them?
All these ways are ways of death. There is only one way to life; it is faith in Jesus Christ, who said. "I am the way, the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6).
Today's reading: Acts 9:23-43

ACCEPTED TIME 2

God is never too early and He is never too late. His timetable is set on purpose; the purpose is not only for your sake but also for His. In all things, His name shall be glorified. No doubt, He would have been glorified healing Lazarus of his sickness, but this can't compare to raising him from the dead after four...More

IMPEDIMENTS TO PRAYER

. He is looking for those who are ready and committed to walking in His footsteps. God is holy, and He has called us to holy living. We are to do as He commands because we are the light of the world. God in Heaven is glorified when our light shines in the midst of the darkness of this world. If you...More

Standing in the limelight

Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern for all who are going to believe on him for everlasting life.
1 Timothy 1:15.16.
