In the sermon on the mount,...

Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
Matthew 5:25

Did the top manager who transferred to a rival firm take trade secrets with him? This is a question that often occupies the courts. In America, sentences of compensation amounting to thousands of millions are possible, and the loss of faith in the firm is enormous. The board of directors of the guilty party begin consultations with their opposite number to come to an acceptable settlement.
In the sermon on the mount, Jesus Christ had already advised making a peaceful agreement. Did the board of directors mentioned above heed biblical standards and the saying of Jesus? Obeying the Bible message is certainly good advice.
In the words of the Lord Jesus Christ, there was a deeper significance. He meant that we must put things in order with God, and in good time. But we must make one distinction: God is not our adversary. We have to put things right with Him, not He with us. For God hates sin, but he loves us people.
The enmity is on our side alone. Therefore God gave His one beloved Son for us, not to sue us for our guilt, but to reconcile us with Himself, not to condemn us, but to justify us. We do not have to pay to be reconciled with God: the Son has paid our debt, provided we accept His offer of reconciliation. The acceptance lies in the realm of our responsibility.
Today's reading: Acts 20:1-16

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"

Look For Teaching Moments

What do these stones mean?' Joshua 4:21 NIV

One of the most effective ways to teach is through teaching moments'. Jesus did that. When a fig tree didn't produce fruit, He cursed it and it immediately withered up. That got the disciples' attention (see Matthew 21:18-22). Then He explained that unless...More
