An oriental wedding...

This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
John 2:11

An oriental wedding can certainly not be compared with most of our celebrations regarding the number of guests and the time they lasted. In the Galilean village of Cana, the feast was in full swing when the stock of wine ran out. Jesus Christ was one of the guests, and His mother told Him of the calamity. At first the Son of God did nothing. He took commands only from His heavenly Father, not even from His earthly mother.
Until then, Jesus had rarely appeared in public so that few people had any idea who He really was. Unexpectedly, the Lord then gave the order to fill the six large water tanks with water, which undoubtedly took some time. To do so, around 500 to 600 litres of water were needed, a huge quantity. Then Jesus ordered the master of the feast to take a sample from the tanks - of that water that had inexplicably turned into wine.
The man was most impressed by the quality of the new wine, without knowing where it had come from. He informed the bridegroom that he was disconcerted that such good wine, as he thought, had been kept back for so long, which was an involuntary testimony of the miracle of the wine, as it called. Holy Scripture, however, designates it as a sign, a sign of the glory of Jesus, the Son of God. This sign, accompanied by the message that Jesus preached, was so convincing that many believed in Him. This we can do today, too, on the ground of the reliable testimony of the Bible.
Today's reading: Acts 21:1-17

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"

Look For Teaching Moments

What do these stones mean?' Joshua 4:21 NIV

One of the most effective ways to teach is through teaching moments'. Jesus did that. When a fig tree didn't produce fruit, He cursed it and it immediately withered up. That got the disciples' attention (see Matthew 21:18-22). Then He explained that unless...More
