“You don’t seriously believe in the devil, do you?”

And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Revelation 12:9

"You don't seriously believe in the devil, do you?" From time to time Christians have put up with this question that expresses amazement or derision. Permit us to make three points regarding it:
If we consider what an influence the occult or esoteric plays in our day and age with all their dreadful consequences, one can hardly deny the existence of demonic beings or devils.
We are not thinking of the existence of a devil as portrayed various pictures or legends. Such a ridiculous, gruesome conception with horses' hooves, tails and tridents, who torments people in hell with an army of subordinate devils, is pure phantasy. It is not the devil as described in the Bible.
We do indeed believe that this great adversary of God's exists because God Himself says so in His Word. He is given symbolical names in the Bible: the great dragon, demoting cruelty, the serpent of old, emphasizing his cunning. But he is given names that show what we have to deal with a real person: the devil, Satan (i.e. adversary). In other passages, he is called "the god (or prince) of this world".
There is, however, One who has conquered the devil and taken his power: Jesus Christ. He has freed all who believe in Him from the power the devil. For that He deserves our thanks eternally!
Today's reading: 1 Kings 1:1-27

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"

Bible in one year:
