Locked out

And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
Matthew 25:10

Locked out
My wife had been invited to a birthday celebration and explained that as it would almost certainly be late when she returned, I should not wait up for her. Before I went to bed, I went out into the garden to open the garage door for her. When I went back to the house, I noticed that a gust of wind had shut the door. Unfortunately, I had no key on me. The house was now securely locked and burglar-safe, even for me, the owner without a key. So I sat down on the steps and prepared for a long wait.
There the above text from the Bible occurred to me. What will it be like for people who will find themselves standing outside heaven's shut gate, because they refused to avail themselves of the salvation offered them during their lifetime? They will never be admitted!
In the parable of the ten virgins, Jesus told of the five wise ones who were prepared for the coming of the bridegroom. When he came, they went in to the marriage with him. When the five foolish virgins arrived later, they found the door locked. They cried out, "Lord, Lord, open to us!" But He answered, "Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you" (vv. 11 & 12).
When the Lord Jesus comes, the same fate will meet lots of people. Why? Because they did not accept Him as their personal Redeemer when there was time.
It can never be too early, but there will be a sudden too late!
Today's reading: 1 Kings 1:28-53

What shall the baptized for the dead do if ...

What shall the baptized for the dead do if those that are baptized rise not at all? Why also are they baptized for them?
(1 Corinthians 15:29)

Who are "the dead," and who are those "baptized for the dead"? The next verse gives an important hint: "Why do we also endanger ourselves every...More

Getting Them From Childhood To Adulthood (2)

Be clear minded and self-controlled' 1 Peter 4:7 NIV
Going from childhood to adulthood is a transition that requires a lot of wisdom and love. Your teen will feel and behave child-like sometimes, and adult-like other times. Your job is to realize that whatever their status, they will become a man (woman)...More
