My name is there!

Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Luke 10:20; Revelation 20:15

My name is there!
"Daddy, my name is on the list. It's there: I've won!" My daughter had taken part in a drawing competition and was proudly showing me the post she had just received. For her, there was no doubt: her name was on the list, she had won!
As for my elder son, he was certain that he had failed his entrance exam. The results published on the website confirmed it: his name didn't figure among the list of the successful. We have all known, either for ourselves or our near relatives, those moments of anxiety as we await the document announcing success or failuire.
There is a list that is much more important than any prize list. It is the "book of life", a record kept by God Himself. Being entered in it is not a matter of being better or having greater merits than others. It is sufficient to believe in Jesus Christ. He Himself said, "He who believes in me has everlasting life" (John 6:47). This unequivocal statement gives me this assurance: I believed that Jesus gave His life for me; so my name is written in heaven, and I can rejoice over that unreservedly. If the devil attempts to sow doubt in my heart, I remember that God cannot lie; He has given me eternal life, and by its definition, I shall never lose it.
However, it is just as certain that anyone whose name is not found in the book of life will experience eternal torment after appearing before the supreme judge. The book of life is a document of capital importance. Is your name entered in it?
Today's reading: 1 Kings 6:1-22

To you is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God;

(Mark 4:11)

The Lord Jesus told His disciples that they would be given an understanding in "the mystery of the kingdom of God." He also spoke of another class of people to whom everything would be spoken in parables; these He described as, "them who are without." How solemn that God should...More

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
(Galatians 6:1-2)
