Here the Lord Jesus reproaches those who observe the sky...

Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?
Luke 12:56

Here the Lord Jesus reproaches those who observe the sky and are able to forecast the weather accordingly, yet they will not pay attention to the signs of the time.
As Christians, we do not look out for certain events that will take place on this earth. We do, however, notice what happens. And many occurrences and developments of the coming judgments. The time of God's patience and longsuffering with the godless world that rejects Christ will soon be past. Then God will prepare the scene for Christ's kingdom in power and glory, when all His enemies lie at His feet.
Do we today judge the time correctly? Or are we intelligent as to other matters, but fail to recognise what God expects of us at the present time? If we know that this world will soon be judged, how should that influence the way we lead our life! Not only by our keeping separate from the world, but by our bearing a positive witness in it.
We shall not be here for much longer. The Lord's coming will remove all true Christians from the earth. That ought to shake us up and make us comply with our real calling.
If we do not live in anticipation of our Lord's return then the reason is that we have become lukewarm: our affections lie in other directions. How sad it would be, if Christ found us in this condition at His coming! "Therefore let us not sleep, as others do" (1 Thessalonians 5:6), but heed the call: "Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him" (Matthew 25:6).
Today's reading: 1 Kings 7:8-37

(Mark 4:11)

The Lord Jesus told His disciples that they would be given an understanding in "the mystery of the kingdom of God." He also spoke of another class of people to whom everything would be spoken in parables; these He described as, "them who are without." How solemn that God should...More

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
(Galatians 6:1-2)
