Don't you know the story of the robber...

All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
John 6:37

A nurse reports: "It was my duty to care for a certain patient. In the course of my work, I used to tell him about Jesus and His love."
"Oh," he said, "Jesus won't want me in this condition: I have been too wicked. But perhaps I won't have to die yet."
"In any case it is most important to think about it and put things right with God," I answered. "You just said that Jesus wouldn't want you. Don't you know the story of the robber who was crucified alongside the Lord?"
At that moment, his wife entered. When she saw the man's uneasy state, she said to me, "It would be better if you left now. I have already told you not to speak of religion. I don't want the poor man to be pestered."
Three days later, the invalid died. Shortly after, I met his son, who told me this: "My father would have liked to see you again. But my mother didn't want you to talk about religion to him. She thought it would torment him. But I have had to read him the story of the robber on the cross repeatedly. He was never tired of hearing it. On Sunday morning, he told me, 'My boy, everything is alright now. Jesus bore my sins. Let us thank Him for it together.' Then he sat up in bed and prayed with me. Not long after he was gone, peacefully, and without any suffering."
The good news of Christ is a message for the living and the dying. It applies to all and must be withheld from nobody. Only those who know Him as their Saviour can face death in peace.
Today's reading: 1 Kings 22:15-36

LIFE IN ABUNDANCE 1

Under normal circumstances, no human being desires to be a nonentity. The various forces in the world however, are responsible for many people spending their entire life amounting to nothing and dwelling in the valley of not-well-to-do persons. The Almighty God Himself in making man did not intend for him to be a...More

A spiritual treasure had been entrusted to the apostle Paul that he wished to share with the Christians in Rome. It did not come from his own abilities or knowledge. What he wished to impart to them he had himself received...More
