Walking in the light

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 8:12

Walking in the light
Every evening, the nurse told a story to children from the streets of an African town. They were served a simple meal. But where was Paki tonight? Why wasn't he there with the other children from the town? Yesterday he had stolen some oranges from the hospital garden and, climbing the wall, he injured his foot. Might the nurse have spotted him? So that evening, he sat further away, behind a tree, and listened to the Bible story from there. How he would have liked to be sitting over there in the light and warmth of the fire!
The story was over. From the kitchen, plates of steaming rice were carried out. The children ate with a real appetite. Paki was in two minds: since stealing the oranges he had nothing to eat. Should he stay in the dark, hungry, or venture into the light? After a moment's inner struggle, he stood up and hobbled over to the fire.
"Paki, be quick! The plates are nearly empty," the nurse shouted, holding out a plate of rice.
When the other children had gone, she took Paki by the hand, attended to his injured foot and spoke to him. She interrogated him about the injury, and lo, and behold, Paki admitted stealing. In return the nurse forgave him with all her heart, and he left the hospital happy. He had learned that in the light, all sins become visible, but they can also be given there. How glad he was that he didn't stay in the dark!
"If we confess our sins, he (God) is faithful and just to forigve us our sins" (1 John 1:9).
Today's reading: Titus 3

CONDESCEND!

After seeing their plight, hearing their cries and feeling their pains, God came down to rescue the Israelites from Egypt. Our God is a mobile God. He comes down to deliver His own. As high as God is and even though He has His throne in Heaven, yet He condescends to meet the needs of His children on earth (Isaiah...More

DIVINE CHAMPION 2

Yesterday we discovered that our Lord Jesus Christ is the number one champion and that He makes His people champions. We also saw that a divine champion is a person raised up and supported by God.

One attribute of a champion is strength. The divine champion is one who receives divine strengthening....More

EX-CHAMPION?

Although it is an unpleasant experience to be a defeated contender, becoming an ex-champion is a much more grievous experience. When you are not yet a champion, only a few people pay attention to you. But by the time you become a champion, you will be on the radar of many people, including your enemies. A champion has...More
