How God speaks to His creatures

Thus says the LORD, your redeemer, and he who formed you from the womb: I am the LORD who makes all things, who stretches out the heavens all alone, who spreads abroad the earth by myself.
Isaiah 44:24

How God speaks to His creatures
Who created the stars and galaxies that roam across the heavens? Who was the mathematical genius who calculated their movements? We can answer with assurance: "God!" Countless thinkers have asserted that the universe came into existence by itself. If we had suggested to the same persons that our wristwatches had also come into existence without the work of a watchmaker, they would immediately say that we were fools, and rightly so. That is precisely what the Bible says about such thinkers "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God" (Psalm 14, 1).

We agree with king David's conviction that "the heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows his handiwork" (Psalm 19, 1). But the creation was not God's only way of revealing Himself. God has spoken. What He has said to us is recorded in His Word, the Bible. There we find the truth about mankind - his origin, his future and the fact that he is a sinner in God's sight. But this wonderful book, the Bible also reveals the great salvation that God offers the sinner in His love.

Unfortunately, many people prefer to base their beliefs on superstition instead of listening to God's voice speaking. Or, if they do not trust superstition, they succumb to unbelief and materialism. These are all abysses to be avoided. Lend your ear rather to God's voice: He loves you.

HOW PERSUADED?

In 2 Timothy 4:10, Demas - a co-labourer with Paul was floored by his love for the world. He became a victim of comfort. Today, many people are also becoming prayerless and shifting their or trust from God to uncertain riches. They are now tending towards the belief that money can fix everything. If you are in such...More

A LESSON FROM GOLIATH

At the first sight of David, Goliath despised him. He was amazed that the children of Israel could find no other man to fight him than a young boy. As if that was not enough, Goliath did not see any conventional weapon of war on David. So he asked, "Am I a dog?" The first lesson we have to learn from this story as...More

Always Be Humble

Who am Ithat you have brought me this far?' 2 Samuel 7:18 (NIV 2011 Edition)
A MEMBER of parliament took his little daughter to visit Westminster Abbey. As she stood looking up at its magnificent columns, her father asked, What do you think, sweetheart?' With childlike candour she replied, I was...More

Forgive And Move On (2)

Anyone who starts ploughing and keeps looking back isn't worth a thing to God's Kingdom!' Luke 9:62 CEV

If you're wise, you'll do four things:

(1) Focus on the road ahead. By looking in the rear-view mirror instead of what's up ahead, you'll end up in a ditch. Focus on the fact you've...More
