The Lord’s leading

He leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Psalm 23:3

The Lord's leading
A shepherd goes ahead of his flock in order to lead the sheep along the right, beneficial pathway. Because the sheep know and trust him, they follow. This is precisely the way that the Lord Jesus takes over the guidance of our lives. As one of the Good Shepherd's sheep I know that:

a) He leads me in "paths of righteousness", i.e. along a pathway in harmony with biblical instruction. God can approve of it, because it corresponds to His thoughts. Thus, the Word of God enables me to recognize the way He wishes to lead me when I come to a fork in the road.

b) the way He leads me applies to my personal needs. So I do not compare my situation with that of other believers, but simply follow the Lord Jesus. Then I shall experience the care He has for me personally.

c) His way is a good way. It may sometimes be steep and arduous. I may have to struggle and shed many a tear. But one thing remains true: "The rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice" (Deuteronomy 32, 4).

d) the destination will be glorious. The Lord Jesus has promised, "I will come again and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also" (John 14, 3).

This awareness enables me to look to Jesus Christ confidently and go His way with peace in my heart.

NEGATIVE LIVING

Life comprises of positive and negative elements. As a matter of necessity, it is not good for someone to opt for negative living. The fact that Jesus Christ was destined to die for the sin of the whole world does not exonerate Judas Iscariot from the evil that led him to the idea of betraying the King of Glory....More
