“Get in the right lane!”

There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.
Proverbs 14:12

"Get in the right lane!" stands on traffic signs before road junctions, and the lanes are marked with arrows. Whoever fails to heed the warning will soon find himself caught up in a stream of traffic driving in the wrong direction. It may well take time to get back to the right direction, but we can rectify our mistake.

The Word of God also tells us to get on the right track. We must decide now, in our life on earth, where we wish to spend eternity. But first we must be clear as to the destination. Is it the glory of heaven, or everlasting separation from God?

Our wish alone is insufficient. We must get on the right course in time. Otherwise we shall end up where we did not want to be.

We still have the possibility to alter our life's direction. But we must also know how to do so. We must abandon our sinful pathway and follow Jesus Christ. But we must realise that in our own strength this is not possible. The problem of our guilt has to be settled first. We need forgiveness. Then, to follow Christ a new vital principle is necessary: eternal life.

God gave His Son, Jesus Christ, to settle the problem of our sin. Whoever comes to God , confessing his guilt and believing in Christ the Saviour, receives the forgiveness of sins and the new life which enables him to follow Christ with a joyful heart.

Two discouraged disciples were reasoning among themselves...

Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory? And having begun from Moses and from all the prophets, He interpreted them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
(Luke 24:26-27)

SPIRITUAL WARFARE I

When we are told to put on the whole armour of God, one thing becomes clear instantly. This is the fact that there is a God. We cannot be talking of the armour of God if there is no God. Anyone who thinks that there is no God is a fool (Psalm 14:1). You have to pray that God would reveal Himself to you. The...More
