Conversion – from dumbness to speech (7)

Do not be afraid, but speak and do not keep silent. Speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine.
Acts 18:9; Titus 2:1

Conversion - from dumbness to speech (7)
Language is the pre-eminent means of communication among human beings. How difficult it would be to pass on our thoughts to others, if we were unable to speak! Yet the unfortunate people who are dumb constantly encounter this obstacle.

Referring to God, king Solomon wrote: "'The prayer of the upright is his delight" (Proverbs 15, 8). The upright are those whose sins have been forgiven and who live righteously. The unconverted could never number among them, and God will not hear true, thanksgiving, praise or worship from them, even if they occasionally express their relief by invoking His Name. In this sense unbelievers are mute.

Born again Christians, by contrast, realise what they owe to their Lord and Saviour and readily express their gratitude for their salvation. The young man of Nain who was raised to life "began to speak" Luke 7, 15). Of the deaf man with a speech impediment (Mark 7, 32 - 35) we learn that "his ears were opened and he spoke plainly." Do we make sufficient use of this ability to proclaim the news of salvation and the virtues of the Saviour?

Jesus told the maniac He had cured: "Go home to your friends and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how he had compassion on you" (Luke 5, 19). Today's verses above stress the importance of spreading both the gospel and scriptural truth through the spoken word.

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"

Bible in one year:
