A very direct question

Prepare to meet your God!
Amos 4:12

A very direct question
Felix Neff was a preacher of the gospel who came straight to the point when speaking out what he had on his heart. In Lausanne he once thought he recognized a man ahead of him with whom he had often spoken about the Lord Jesus Christ. He quickened his step, caught up with him and laid his hand on his shoulder, asking the question, "What about your soul?" The person addressed turned round, and Neff saw that he had mistaken his identity. He apologized and went on his way.

Four years later at the end of a gospel address that Neff had given, a man came up to him and said,, "I owe you a great debt." Neff looked at him in astonishment. The man continued, "Don't you recognize me? You once asked me the question mistakenly, `What about your soul?´ Those words penetrated my conscience like an arrow and gave me no peace. I finally went to the Lord Jesus with the burden of my sins and confessed them to Him. I know that God has forgiven me."

What about your own soul? Everyone should be certain about that right now. Perhaps it was any thought about God that has been troublesome until now, so we have kept away from Him. One day, however, each one will have to account for his life before God. We need to be prepared. That was the reason for Felix Neff's direct question. It also explains the urgent appeal of the Son of God: "Come to me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11, 28).

TRANSFORMED BY THE NEW CREATION

One of the most profound wonders you will find anywhere in the world is the wonder of a transformed life. When a person who was demon-possessed suddenly becomes a vessel unto honour, what wonder can be greater than this? Such a person remains a wonder throughout his or her lifetime. This was the testimony of Mary...More
