Our attitude towards our children

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.
Proverbs 22:6; Ephesians 6:4

Our attitude towards our children
In a world in which family relationships are becoming more and more strained, Christians, God's children, are happy to base their family life on the instruction given in the Bible. The family is the entity established by God in which the adults of the future, our children, are formed.

Let us instil good habits in them, reading the Bible with them every day. Let us take the opportunity to instruct them: "These words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house ." (Deuteronomy 6, 6.7). Let us learn to obey the Word of God as a family, and the children their parents, having a fair, beneficial discipline, just as God our Father exercises towards us. Allowing children to do as they wish under the pretext of respecting their freedom is to abandon them to the bondage of their passions.

Let us also encourage them, not making useless or excessive demands. Let us remember that our example is of prime importance. The best instruction will be ineffective if they see (and they are very observant) that we that we ourselves do not conform to it.

Above all, let us pray for them unceasingly, first for their soul's salvation, then for their commitment to Christian living. We have not the ability to keep them from evil, but let us plead with God to do so; He loves them more than we do.

CONDESCEND!

After seeing their plight, hearing their cries and feeling their pains, God came down to rescue the Israelites from Egypt. Our God is a mobile God. He comes down to deliver His own. As high as God is and even though He has His throne in Heaven, yet He condescends to meet the needs of His children on earth (Isaiah...More

DIVINE CHAMPION 2

Yesterday we discovered that our Lord Jesus Christ is the number one champion and that He makes His people champions. We also saw that a divine champion is a person raised up and supported by God.

One attribute of a champion is strength. The divine champion is one who receives divine strengthening....More

EX-CHAMPION?

Although it is an unpleasant experience to be a defeated contender, becoming an ex-champion is a much more grievous experience. When you are not yet a champion, only a few people pay attention to you. But by the time you become a champion, you will be on the radar of many people, including your enemies. A champion has...More
