Justification

As through one man's offence judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one man's righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.
Romans 5:18

Justification
It is God's wish not only to forgive us sinful persons our guilt, but also to justify us, i.e. to pronounce us free of any guilt that might be accused of. How is that possible? Through God Himself, who is the true and only source of justification: "Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies" (Romans 8, 33).

How does such justification come about? Through the redemption that our Saviour obtained at the cross of Calvary: "being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus" (Romans 3, 24). Jesus Christ, whose blood is the means of man's justification, thus became the originator of our justification: "Having now been justified by his blood" (Romans 5, 9).

How does a person who acknowledges and confesses his guilt before God obtain this justification? Faith is the hand with which he can take hold of it: "We conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from deeds of the law" (Romans 3, 28).

What then is the significance of the words in James 2, 24: "You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only." By means of good works a believer gives the irrefutable proof of the sincere faith in his heart.

When You Have A Vision

I was not disobedient to the vision.' Acts 26:19 NIV

When God gives you a vision for your life, you need to know how to:

(1) Hold it. Your vision is governed by a time frame: If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place.' (Habakkuk 2:3 NLT) Some of us can...More

Thoughts on the Gospel of John (113)

He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, let him follow me; and where I am, there my servant will be also. If anyone serves me, him my Father will honour.
John 12:25.26.
