Today’s text is addressed to believers...

Purge out the old leaven . For Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
1 Corinthians 5:7.8

Today's text is addressed to believers, i.e. to all who have laid claim to the atoning blood of the Lord Jesus shed for us. We can truly say from the heart with the apostle Paul: "Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us."

As the Israelites in Egypt once applied the blood of the Passover lamb to the doorposts and lintel of their houses to remain spared from God's judgment, so do we stand under the protection of the blood of Christ. That is the work of God; we can contribute nothing to it. The wording: "Purge out the old leaven" is significant. It was a requirement for the feast of unleavened bread that any leaven should be removed from the Israelites' houses. This is also necessary in our life. Practical holiness and separation from sin must make our life a "feast" that glorifies God. That is up to us.

Old leaven in a believer's life is an earnest matter. If there are old habits or occurrences from the past that have not been "purged out", i.e. confessed and judged before God, or maybe tendencies that we have not condemned in our heart, there will be consequences. We shall be powerless in face of the temptations of life. We shall lack joy in the Lord and His Word, our much needed food. Above all, our life will fail to glorify Him. How do we stand with regard to this?

UNCOVERING EVIL

The presence of the supernatural power of God in a church can take that church beyond limits.
It can also uproot the presence of evil in the midst of Gods children. In Acts 5, a couple were uprooted through this. If we are going to sanitise the church, we need the Holy Spirit. Just as we need Him to heal, save...More

And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; ...More

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)

In the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time, but has manifested in its own due season His word.
(Titus 1:2-3)

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)
I can lie. Titus could too, and so could the Cretans. But God can not lie. I can deceive. But...More
