Logical and illogical thinking

This is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
John 17:3

Logical and illogical thinking
It is astonishing that many people spend their life without being occupied with God, even denying His existence, yet they envisage the possibility of going to heaven after death because they have done no harm to anyone. This attitude reveals a fatal misunderstanding. Heaven is God's dwelling: "It is God's throne" (Matthew 5, 34). How can anyone imagine being happy in heaven with a God whom one has chosen to ignore all one's life?

Man is often illogical; God is not. He is a Saviour-God, who "desires all men to be saved" (1 Timothy 2, 3.4), but if you do not want Him now, you will be far from Him in eternity.

We have access to heaven solely by having a relationship with Him who dwells there and by knowing Him personally. This knowledge comes through faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. "Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal him" (Matthew 11, 27).

Jesus has revealed Him to us. To do so He agreed to leave His glorious state in heaven and come to this earth. At the end of a life of suffering and rejection He paid the debt of my sins. I believed in Him and He brought me into the relationship of a child with His Father. God is an integral part of my present life, and I await the day when He will receive me in heaven with assurance.

Let us be logical. If we wish to live with God in heaven one day, let us now come to know the Saviour-God through Jesus Christ!

Today's reading: Psalm 104

OFFENDED IN CHRIST?

The Christian race must be run with lots of patience or else it will be bungled midway. If you are inpatient with Gods timing, you will not only get into trouble but may not be able to finish the race. A good number of backsliders derailed from their heavenly track because of impatience. In Matthew 11:6 Jesus...More

Jehovah appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre. And...

Jehovah appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre. And he sat at the tent-door in the heat of the day. And he lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, three men standing near him.
(Genesis 18:1)

The spiritual elevation of Abraham in Genesis 18 and 19 is something very peculiar. He seems...More

THE HOLY SPIRIT

It is one thing to receive the anointing and another to keep growing on it. There are people who had the anointing, but today, everything has virtually ebbed out. It is possible to connect with the Holy Spirit and to continue to flow in the power of the anointing even at increasing levels. If this is your desire,...More

BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY

Yesterday we learnt it is not right for us to get angry with God or to take offence against Him, even if we experience the deferment of our hopes. The example of John the Baptist who earlier acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, but later doubted Him because of his painful experience of incarceration is a warning...More
