The New Year

Grace, mercy and peace be with you from God the Father in truth and love.
2 John 3

The New Year
Will this year be better than the previous one?

We have the same difficulties. Troubles arise all round us, perhaps even for us, too. We have to confirm that nothing has really changed for the better. People are, in fact, just the same. They like to praise their ability to achieve great things. But aren't they also greedy for power, riches and cheap pleasures? And to achieve their end, they prove to be evil and cruel, liars and thieves.

God tells us in the Bible that "the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked; who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart." (Jeremiah 17:9). But He also shows us how He can change our hearts. God came among us on earth through Jesus Christ, His Son, to give us a new start. Jesus was the only perfect Man in God's sight. His pure life, full of love, spotlighted the wickedness of His fellowmen, who nailed Him to a cross. There, however, at the summit of man's hatred, Jesus was willing to be judged in our stead. We deserved death and God's condemnation, but He died for us and rose again. To all who sincerely put their faith in Him He now grants eternal life, peace and fellowship with God. That is the condition for living out the commendable characteristics of Jesus' life: peace, love, truth, justice, joy and humility. Will you reflect them through His grace and with His help in your own life this coming year?

Today's reading: Exodus 1:1-22 · Luke 1:1-12

YOU CAN BE HIS WITNESS

As a bona fide member of the Kingdom of God, you must be a proof of His power to save. Matthew 1:21 says Jesus shall save His people from sin.

BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY

Yesterday we learnt it is not right for us to get angry with God or to take offence against Him, even if we experience the deferment of our hopes. The example of John the Baptist who earlier acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, but later doubted Him because of his painful experience of incarceration is a warning...More

...when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem...
Luke 2:45

We might as well face it, strife has even infiltrated our church life. It is true enough that the Church is now the Church militant. But, as such, its warfare ought to be that of dedication to revealed truth and divine...More
