Tomorrow is the Lord’s Day

On the first day of the week the disciples came together to break bread.

The desire of our soul is for your name and the remembrance of you.

Acts 20:7; Isaiah 26:8

Tomorrow is the Lord's Day
For Christians Sunday is an important day of the week. It is "the Lord's Day", the day when Jesus rose from the dead. On the evening of that day Jesus appeared before His disciples who had met together. The following week He again came into their midst and showed Himself especially to Thomas who still did not believe in His resurrection.

Later the disciples, then the early Christians, gathered every Sunday to "break bread", i.e. to celebrate the Supper, the meal in remembrance of Jesus' death.

We, too, do not neglect to attend this meeting of Christians on the first day of the week to be in the presence of the Lord Jesus in order to remember him. It was His wish, for He said, "Do this in remembrance of me" (Luke 22:19). What a great privilege this is!

It was on a Sunday that the Lord chose to entrust the apostle John with the Revelation. John was alone in exile on the island of Patmos. He could not share the fellowship that Christians enjoyed on that day. But God had a special portion for him in giving him a unique revelation.

If, like the apostle John, we find it impossible to meet around the Lord Jesus on Sunday for various reasons (illness, absence from home, persecution etc.), let us read the Word of God and dedicate the day to him, He will grant us joy and encouragement. He once promised His scattered people: "I shall be a little sanctuary for them in the countries where they have gone" (Ezekiel 11:16).

Today's reading: Exodus 7:14-29 · Luke 2:41-52

CONDESCEND!

After seeing their plight, hearing their cries and feeling their pains, God came down to rescue the Israelites from Egypt. Our God is a mobile God. He comes down to deliver His own. As high as God is and even though He has His throne in Heaven, yet He condescends to meet the needs of His children on earth (Isaiah...More

DIVINE CHAMPION 2

One attribute of a champion is strength. The divine champion is one who receives divine strengthening....More

EX-CHAMPION?

Although it is an unpleasant experience to be a defeated contender, becoming an ex-champion is a much more grievous experience. When you are not yet a champion, only a few people pay attention to you. But by the time you become a champion, you will be on the radar of many people, including your enemies. A champion has...More
