Faithful service for God

He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much.Do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them.
Luke 16:10; Jeremiah 45:5

Faithful service for God
Julia has always been interested in the accounts of missionaries who left their homes for distant lands full of faith and commitment. One day she made an important decision: "Lord, I wish to consecrate my life to you. Show me what you expect of me." And she waited, wondering what great mission the Lord had in mind for her. But to her disappointment nothing happened. Life just went on.

Julia had a neighbour who was hard to please and not particularly likeable. She frequently wanted various small jobs done without ever showing gratitude. And there was stress at work: Julia was harassed from morning to evening.

One evening her tired eyes were arrested by the phrase: "faithful in what is least". She suddenly realised that God was putting her to the test. He wanted her to show her faith, her love and her devotion in small matters today first of all. That is His preparation for greater things tomorrow.

Isn't the love shown in devoting herself to a disagreeable neighbour just as precious for God as that which motivates a servant on the missionary field? And isn't the faith that confides the minor cares of the day to God equal to that which enables a missionary to surmount difficulties peacefully?

Dear Christians, let us learn to testify our faith and live before God in the small things of daily life. Maybe He will entrust us later with a greater service.

Today's reading: Exodus 12:43-13:10 · Luke 6:1-11

CAN SATAN RIGHTLY ACCUSE YOU?

Besides discouragement, another weapon Satan uses often against believers is their weaknesses. He simply studies an individual for a period of time and not long after, he identifies the fellow's weakness and capitalizes on it. Take for instance Peter. Satan discovered that Peter is a cowardly person-lacking in...More

DON'T KILL YOURSELF FOR NOTHING

I do hope you are realizing that after all there is no point envying the prosperous wicked. Do not kill yourself for nothing. You have your life to live. Do not be a puppet dancing the...More

Hudson Taylor...

John 19:30

The parents of Hudson Taylor (1832-1905), the well-known missionary in China, were believers. From their example, he noticed early in life how helpful prayer and the Bible are.
His parents' exemplary life impressed him, and he endeavoured to be as good a Christian as they were....More
