Abundant grace

The LORD is longsuffering and abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but he by no means clears the guilty. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Numbers 14:18; Romans 5:8.9

Abundant grace
In all his history man has provoked God by violent acts, immorality and utterances reaching the level of blasphemy. Nowadays this attitude that dishonours God is evident publicly. It has become almost irreversible in the production of video games and films.

God's warnings, however, are earnest: "The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness" (Romans 1:18). Divine judgment will overtake a world that outrages God. At present He is still patient and does not execute judgment. His longsuffering and goodness lead everyone to repent (Romans 2:4).

The apostle Paul is an example of what the grace of God can accomplish. As a blasphemer he persecuted all who believed in Jesus Christ. "I punished them often in every synagogue and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly enraged against them I persecuted them even to foreign cities" (Acts 26:11). He sided with those who stoned Stephen, a faithful witness for Jesus Chris. (cf. Acts 8:1). But God's grace is abundant. "I obtained mercy," he wrote. "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief" (1 Timothy 1:13.15). Grace is still being offered today to all. Everyone can obtain God's forgiveness free of charge.

Today's reading: Exodus 28:1-14 · Luke 11:14-28

The Psalmist prayed, Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting' (Psalms 139:23-24 NKJV). If you're wise you'll...More

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"

Look For Teaching Moments

What do these stones mean?' Joshua 4:21 NIV

One of the most effective ways to teach is through teaching moments'. Jesus did that. When a fig tree didn't produce fruit, He cursed it and it immediately withered up. That got the disciples' attention (see Matthew 21:18-22). Then He explained that unless...More
