Joy shared

Andrew first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, We have found the Messiah. And he brought him to Jesus.
John 1:40-42

Joy shared
This happened many years ago: some gold diggers were excavating in Montana, U.S.A.. Suddenly one of them came across an unusual stone in the ground and discovered that it contained gold. Full of spirit, the men continued searching and discovered a large amount of the precious metal. Overcome with joy, they exclaimed, "Now we are rich!"

On their way to the town to build up their supplies, they decided not to tell anyone about their discovery. However, when they were about to return to their camp, they noticed a group of men who were intent on following them.

"You have found gold," they said.

"Who told you?" the diggers asked in their astonishment.

"Nobody! We can tell from the look on your faces."

Whoever has received the Lord Jesus has found in Him the forgiveness of his wrongs and God's perfect grace that saves besides peace and joy. Can he keep that hidden from his neighbourhood? Impossible!

We can well understand why the gold diggers wanted to suppress the news of their discovery. But shouldn't we Christians spread the good news, seeking to live like Christ in this world and speaking to others about what we have discovered? Finding Christ and living with Him is the greatest treasure one can possess. How can we fail to make our great joy known to others?

Today's reading: Exodus 31:12-18 · Luke 13:10-17

Today God is calling you (3)

I have prayed for you, that your faith will not fail.' Luke 22:32 NASB

God wants you to do His will, but you'll never reach the place of spiritual maturity in which you're free of Satan. You can overcome him, but you can't eliminate him. Look at Peter. He had only one gear: overdrive. He was always...More
