Christ’s sympathy

We do not have a high priest who cannot sympathise with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Hebrews 4:15

Christ's sympathy
Jesus Christ came into contact with very many people while He was here on earth. If they were suffering under the weaknesses of man's life, He could feel with them.

He was moved with compassion for those who were weary and exhausted like sheep that had no shepherd (Matthew 9:36).

He had compassion on the multitude that, after spending three days with Him, had nothing to eat (Matthew 15:32). He did not want them to leave the place still hungry.

He had heartfelt sympathy with all who were ill or had physical defects and came to Him for healing (cf. Matthew 20:34). How deeply He sensed such consequences of sin!

The Lord had compassion on the widow in mourning over her only son, who was being carried to his burial (Luke 7:13). Moved with sympathy, He said to her, "Do not weep."

The Lord Jesus is now in heaven. But He has not forgotten what life on earth is like. He knows from experience that human suffering causes us a lot of trouble. He sympathises with us when we are tired, ill or sad. As a merciful high priest, He supports us, so that we do not despair in the difficulties of our life. He strengthens our faith through His Word, so that we do not give up on the path to the heavenly goal.

Today's reading: Jeremiah 48:26-47 · Romans 13:1-10

BE TRULY ROOTED

You can overcome the attacks of the devil if you can simply obey God's Word. Before taking on the devil, be sure of your salvation because the salvation of many today is questionable. Many are pretenders and have really never answered the altar call for salvation at any time. At the time they should be answering...More

YOUR FIRST LOVE

As a Christian, your heart ought to be aglow with genuine love for Christ, unless you are not genuinely saved as a result of having not truly repented from your sins even though you have confessed Jesus. At the new birth experience, the Holy Spirit regenerates our spirit and fills it with deep and pure love for...More

Imitation or Genuine?

"All the prophets were prophesying before them. Then Zedekiah said, 'This is what the LORD says' All the prophets were prophesying this as well." - 1 Kings 22:10-12 NASB

Zedekiah understood what it meant to be a prophet. He knew the vocabulary and how to deliver prophecies. In similar ways, others...More
