Question: Isn’t it too simple to assert that...

Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father in heaven.
Matthew 7:21

Question: Isn't it too simple to assert that one is saved for eternity, just because one is a Christian?

Answer: It is indeed too simple, for only those are truly saved who sincerely have faith in Jesus Christ! Being saved is not merely professing that one is a Christian. Having believing parents or belonging to a church do not bring one eternal life. Someone can believe in God and acknowledge that heaven and hell exist; he can accept that he will one day come into judgment and yet not be saved and belong to the Lord.

Repentance and faith lead to salvation. That involves acknowledging the Creator's rights and being horrified at the sin in our life. In addition there must be the realisation that we cannot ourselves remove our guilt and deserve God's just punishment. Above all, we must look to Jesus and His substitutionary sacrifice for us by faith. Whoever turns to God in this way obtains the forgiveness of his sins. And God gives him the Holy Spirit who assures us that we are children of God. Let us remember: God is not deceived; He grants the sealing with the Holy Spirit on those alone who truly belong to Him (cf. Romans 8:16; Ephesians 1:13).

Unfortunately, many merely call themselves Christians. "They profess to know God, but in works they deny him" (Titus 1:16). They are, in fact, lost, for a profession of Christianity must be accompanied by genuine conversion to God and true, heartfelt faith in Jesus Christ. Only then is one saved.

Today's reading: Leviticus 5:1-13 · Psalm 51:1-11

UNCOVERING EVIL

The presence of the supernatural power of God in a church can take that church beyond limits.
It can also uproot the presence of evil in the midst of Gods children. In Acts 5, a couple were uprooted through this. If we are going to sanitise the church, we need the Holy Spirit. Just as we need Him to heal, save...More

And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; ...More

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)

In the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time, but has manifested in its own due season His word.
(Titus 1:2-3)

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)
I can lie. Titus could too, and so could the Cretans. But God can not lie. I can deceive. But...More
