A little too late!

If anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
1 John 2:1; 2 Corinthians 6:2

A little too late!
A woman was to be tried for a serious offence. She was advised to engage an excellent lawyer of repute, who would probably be able to get her acquitted. On several occasions she postponed consulting him; then, one day she finally decided to ask him to represent her. He replied, "Dear Madam, to my great regret I cannot plead your cause. A few days ago I was nominated a judge. I shall continue to plead for a few weeks, but I no longer have the right to take on new cases. A few days ago I could have agreed to defend you."

We do not know if her negligence had any effect on the outcome of her case. There is, however, one occasion when the consequence of our negligence will be exceedingly severe: when we are summoned before God. The Bible presents that solemn event clearly: "It is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment" (Hebrews 9:27).

At present Jesus, the Saviour, rather than pleading our case before God, can obtain a just acquittal, since He underwent the judgment that we deserved. He died for our sins. Failing to accept Jesus as Saviour means meeting Him as our judge (cf. Romans 2:16). Shall we put it off until it is too late? Some day everyone will be called to face his Creator. Today you still have the choice: will you meet the Judge who will pronounce the certain sentence of condemnation, or the Father who will welcome you in His heavenly home?

Today's reading: Leviticus 11:29-47 · Psalm 57:1-12

ACCEPTED TIME 2

God is never too early and He is never too late. His timetable is set on purpose; the purpose is not only for your sake but also for His. In all things, His name shall be glorified. No doubt, He would have been glorified healing Lazarus of his sickness, but this can't compare to raising him from the dead after four...More

IMPEDIMENTS TO PRAYER

Read:
. He is looking for those who are ready and committed to walking in His footsteps. God is holy, and He has called us to holy living. We are to do as He commands because we are the light of the world. God in Heaven is glorified when our light shines in the midst of the darkness of this world. If you...More

Standing in the limelight

Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern for all who are going to believe on him for everlasting life.
1 Timothy 1:15.16.
