Living a life of practical righteousness...

Always be ready to give a defence to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.
1 Peter 3:15

Living a life of practical righteousness can lead to questions being asked in an unjust world. Do we then evade them, change the subject or remain silent? We should take advantage of the chance to state truly and clearly what our hope is!

This hope is in us. It may be invisible to outsiders, but it is active within us, keeping us going on the pathway of faith. It is our hope for the future in which God will finally ensure righteousness in every respect.

This matter has two sides: God will one day reward all that is good, but also punish all that is evil. For what every disciple has done out of love towards Jesus he will hear the words: "Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things" (Matthew 25:23). Whoever reads the New Testament ascertains that the writers found this a spur and an encouragement. Their life on earth consisted often enough in renunciation and poverty, and for some ended in martyrdom. But they knew that in the end it was worth it. The Lord, for whom we undergo it all, is worthy of it. And He will not consider it all for nothing!

On the other hand, "It is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you" (2 Thessalonians 1:6). All the unrighteousness that occurs in this world, especially that suffered by His children, does not escape God's attention. Every righteous deed will be rewarded. And equally, all the injustice will be judged. Both these aspects are part of the hope to which we testify.

Today's reading: Leviticus 15:1-33 · Psalm 63:1-12

CAN SATAN RIGHTLY ACCUSE YOU?

Besides discouragement, another weapon Satan uses often against believers is their weaknesses. He simply studies an individual for a period of time and not long after, he identifies the fellow's weakness and capitalizes on it. Take for instance Peter. Satan discovered that Peter is a cowardly person-lacking in...More

SPIRITUAL WARFARE I

When we are told to put on the whole armour of God, one thing becomes clear instantly. This is the fact that there is a God. We cannot be talking of the armour of God if there is no God. Anyone who thinks that there is no God is a fool (Psalm 14:1). You have to pray that God would reveal Himself to you. The...More

SATAN INTIMIDATES

When Goliath came to the battlefield, he took the form of a big problem but he later became a big opportunity. He came as a mighty obstacle but turned into a mighty door of opportunity when God stepped in. Every giant who stands in your way this season shall become a door to your breakthrough in Jesus' Name. The...More
