Saved through the fog

Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in you. When I cry out to you, then my enemies will turn back.
Psalm 56:3.9

Saved through the fog
A long time ago, when believers were being persecuted in France, a preacher of the gospel was once riding through a bleak region. From time to time he dismounted from his horse and put his ear to the ground to hear whether there were any unusual noises.

Suddenly the evangelist heard the sound of galloping horses approaching. They could only be the royal dragoons, undoubtedly sent out to arrest him. He could neither flee nor hide. So he knelt down and asked God to rescue him, if it was His will. That was his only means of help.

When the servant of God stood up, he found himself enveloped in such thick fog that it was almost pitch dark around him. He heard the riders dashing past him and disappearing in the distance. They had missed him! It goes without saying that he thanked God for His deliverance.

In a certain sense we resemble that preacher. If it is possible, we undertake anything to escape our fate. But what if we are faced with it? We are apparently at its mercy and helpless. When the realm of the dead says: "You are next!" We are eternally lost - unless we have acted like the preacher: admitting that we are lost and sincerely praying for God's salvation.

The salvation of our soul does not happen through fog. God sent His Son to die for us. Believing in His blood (His atoning sacrifice) is the only means to preserve us from eternal judgment. Let us remember that!

BE STRONG

You don't charge someone to be strong if there is no task to be performed or if pressure is not required, either for motion or putting up resistance against an opposing force. In the physical realm, mere movement requires strength. This explains why a sick person or a person just recovering from an ailment finds it...More

God often proves to be other than people think...

Acts 5:4-5

God often proves to be other than people think. Here, for example, death struck a man suddenly for lying before God. Is God therefore severe, when he makes use of His power unreservedly towards the weak?
Let us first briefly examine what preceded this judgment. Holy zeal for the...More
