If people were ever to learn anything about...

He who comes from above is above all. What he has seen and heard, that he testifies. When he, the Spirit of truth has come, he will guide you into all truth. He will glorify me, for he will take of what is mine and declare it to you.
John 3:31.32; 16:13.14

If people were ever to learn anything about heaven, then the Son of God alone could be the messenger. Therefore He came from heaven, the Father's house, to dwell among men on earth as the Man Christ Jesus.

God and Man are unified in the Person of Jesus. This is inexplicable for us, but we acknowledge it by faith; every believer has immense blessing from the fact. The Lord told His disciples: "I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from my Father I have made known to you" (John 15:15).

Then the Lord Jesus returned to heaven, still as God and Man, but now as the glorified Man. Who can now inform us about heaven? The Holy Spirit, who came to earth to dwell in the believers. He leads us into "all truth". This is the purpose of the New Testament scriptures. They tell of the glory of the Son of God as a Man on earth and of His glory in heaven. These scriptures were recorded by men of God under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. When we read them, we learn how the Holy Spirit reveals the greatness of Christ to our hearts.

Between Christ's incarnation and His glorification as a Man in heaven was the cross where He suffered and died for you and me, so that we might one day be with Him in the glory of heaven.

Today's reading: 2 Chronicles 3:1-17 · 2 Timothy 1:9-18
