A storm in a room at home

They mount up to the heavens, they go down again to the depths and are at their wits' end.He calms the storm, so that its waves are still.Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey him?
Psalm 107:26.27.29; Matthew 8:27

A storm in a room at home
For some time I have been worried about one of my children. That happy boy, so easy to get on with has turned into a silent, gloomy adolescent who spends most of his time in his own room. I enter it very rarely, for it is his domain, and I respect that.

Faced with my son, who has gradually become a stranger to me, I feel terribly powerless. However, reading the gospels is an encouragement: some parents went to Jesus with their cares about their children, and He helped them.

One desperate father, whose son was tormented by an evil spirit, begged Jesus to come to his aid. "If you can do anything ," he said in his distress. Jesus strengthened that poor man's weak faith, cast out the unclean spirit and restored the lad to his father. (Mark 9:14-27).

Another father asked Jesus to come to his sick daughter, but when they reached her bed, the child was dead. Jesus raised the young girl back to life and gave her back to her parents.

The two cases were different, but nothing exceeds Jesus' ability. He has the power to aid both the parents and their children.

So I, too, resolutely take my son to the Lord in prayer. Day after day I plead with Him to enter his room, speak with him and take matters up with him. He knows the boy's confusion, the questions and doubts that trouble him better than I do. With His sure, authoritative word He alone can calm the inner storm and restore peace.

Christian parents, we have a sure resource in our Lord!

(Mark 4:11)

The Lord Jesus told His disciples that they would be given an understanding in "the mystery of the kingdom of God." He also spoke of another class of people to whom everything would be spoken in parables; these He described as, "them who are without." How solemn that God should...More

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
(Galatians 6:1-2)
