It is reported of the early Christians that...

They continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Acts 2:42

It is reported of the early Christians that "the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul" (Acts 4:32). This practical unity of all believers unfortunately no longer exists. Today Christians are divided into countless denominations and groupings. Moreover, they have incorporated persons who are mere nominal Christians without God-given new life. We need to confess that we are all equally guilty of causing and continuing this sad situation.

Even if the outward, visible unity of the early Christians has been destroyed, we can still persevere in keeping the same fundamental practices as they did.

The apostles' doctrine comprises all that we find in the New Testament. By holding firmly to it and being constantly instructed in all its teaching, we "continue steadfastly" in it.

Fellowship with one another and, above all, with Christ, our Lord and Redeemer, is founded on the sound teaching of the New Testament. We can never make well-pleasing progress for God on the basis of mere human agreement.

The breaking of bread is the great privilege of believers. They can fulfil the Lord's wish every Sunday by keeping the feast of remembrance and announcing His death on this earth, where His cross stood. "As often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till he comes" (1 Corinthians 11:26).

By means of corporate prayer believers thank God for all the blessings He grants and also make request for the needs and troubles of His children.

Today's reading: 2 Chronicles 28:16-27 · Revelation 14:9-20

THE GREAT DELIVERER

God is great but He humbles Himself to the level of His children to deliver them. The one who will deliver you must be stronger than the enemy holding you captive. The reason He is able to deliver is because He is stronger than all your enemies put together. This is why in

NO FOOD FOR THE LAZY MAN

Laziness is not a Christian virtue in any way. Our Lord Jesus Christ made this clear by His lifestyle of hard work while here on earth. A lifestyle of laziness is outrightly rejected in Scriptures typified by today's Bible reading. It is amazing that some people are still expecting God to rain manna on earth! It does...More
