God the Holy Spirit had a special place in...

The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.
Luke 1:35

God the Holy Spirit had a special place in the life of the Man Christ Jesus. Various New Testament scriptures speak of it:

He was begotten of the Holy Spirit. As a result of this tremendous fact Jesus Christ could be called from His birth the "holy One". He was the only sinless human being. His entire life was well-pleasing for God.

When He began His public ministry at the age of thirty, He was baptised by John the Baptist in the river Jordan. The heavens opened immediately, and the Spirit of God descended on Him like a dove to remain on Him. That was the moment when God anointed the Lord Jesus with the Holy Spirit and power for His ministry among the people of Israel.

If we follow the life and service of the Lord Jesus in the gospels, we shall notice that He was led by the Holy Spirit in every detail of His life. The Holy Spirit worked in Him with divine power.

It was not only in the life of the Lord Jesus that the Holy Spirit was active. We read that "through the eternal Spirit" He "offered Himself without spot to God" (Hebrews 9:14). At the cross of Calvary the devotion and consecration of the Lord Jesus to God reached its climax. There He sacrificed Himself fully to God in the power of the Holy Spirit. After "being put to death in the flesh", on the third day after His crucifixion He was "made alive by the Spirit" (1 Peter 3:18).

A Statement Of Purpose To Live By

Always give yourselves fully.' 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Next time you pass a McDonald's, think about this statement from the one of the founders: Ray Kroc. Press on! Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent....More
