Thoughts on the Gospel of John (30)

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3: 14.15.

Thoughts on the Gospel of John (30)
When the Israelites rebelled against God towards the end of their wilderness journey, God sent them fiery serpents whose bite was fatal. Yet God also showed grace: He did not wish to destroy the people completely. He ordered Moses to make a serpent of brass and fix it to a pole. Everyone who . God must deal with sin and judge it, and He did so, not sparing His own Son! The judgment that we deserved He carried out on His Son, proving His holiness and righteousness.

If people are not to be lost, that had to happen, so that they can receive eternal life. Is everlasting life then guaranteed for everyone? By no means! It is available only for those who believe in Christ and can say, "He died there for me." Such will not be lost.

(to be continued next Sunday)

Today‘s reading: Numbers 25: 1 - 18 · Matthew 14: 14 - 21

But they forget that...More

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"
