The lifeline

God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3: 17.

The lifeline
In the year 1907 the steamer "Netherland" was in distress off the coast of Wales and eventually sank. It was night, but the crew managed to swim to safety on the beach. There, however, they discovered to their horror that their way was barred by high, vertical cliffs. How could they possibly escape from the rising tide? Without any aid their situation was hopeless. Then they suddenly discovered a rope hanging down from above. One by one they quickly climbed up the rope, but they found nobody at the top. There wasn't a house or a light to be seen far and wide.

It was not until the next morning that they came across the coastguard. Then the mystery of the rope was revealed. A year previously coastguards had brought a stranded ship to safety, but forgotten to haul that rope back. God had allowed this minor careless lapse to save further victims of shipwreck.

Just as that rope was already hanging from the cliff, so God, too, has long since made provision for sinful men and women to be saved from perishing eternally. He sent His Son into the world, so that sinners need not be lost, but can be forgiven. Since then God has been holding out His hand to save all who believe in Jesus Christ and claim His work of redemption for themselves.

Won't you grasp this "rope" and be saved today?

Today‘s reading: Numbers 26: 35 - 65 · Matthew 15: 1 - 11

CONDESCEND!

After seeing their plight, hearing their cries and feeling their pains, God came down to rescue the Israelites from Egypt. Our God is a mobile God. He comes down to deliver His own. As high as God is and even though He has His throne in Heaven, yet He condescends to meet the needs of His children on earth (Isaiah...More

One attribute of a champion is strength. The divine champion is one who receives divine strengthening....More

EX-CHAMPION?

Although it is an unpleasant experience to be a defeated contender, becoming an ex-champion is a much more grievous experience. When you are not yet a champion, only a few people pay attention to you. But by the time you become a champion, you will be on the radar of many people, including your enemies. A champion has...More
