Mountains of debts

The LORD is slow to anger and great in power, and will not at all acquit the guilty.
Nahum 1: 3.

Mountains of debts
Many countries are badly in debt. The interest that they are obliged to pay on borrowed money places an enormous burden on the national budget. As a result it begins to get out of control. The annual deficit calls for further credits. Many people wonder how long such a process can continue.

The situation in which the state finds itself can also be a bitter reality for private persons. They have bought so much on hire purchase and only then realise what problems the repayments with interest can cause. Many people think: "If only I could rid myself of these debts!"

There is another kind of debt that causes us worries: our wrongdoings before God. Although we very often put them to the back of our minds or play them down, they are real enough. Every injustice that we have done to our fellowmen is also a sin against God. In this way our debt of guilt before God has mounted up during the course of our life. How are things to go on? Is it possible to unload oneself of this debt?

God cannot simply waive the debt: payment is necessary. But there is a solution to our problem: if we confess our sins before Him, believing in Jesus Christ, who paid the debt for us with His own life, God pronounces us free of all unrighteousness. Our debt is then settled. God will never demand any further payment.

Today‘s reading: Numbers 32: 1 - 42 · Matthew 17: 1 - 8

BROKENNESS

In your relationship with God, one place you need to get to is the place of brokenness. To be broken is to have some form of injury that makes the object less than a whole. In spiritual parlance, it is to break or subdue the flesh in order to be more profitable to the kingdom of God. Why do you need to be broken?...More

DELIVERANCE: DIVINE ASSURANCE

When God speaks, that settles it. He reigns forever. When He gives a decree, it is forever. When He says "surely", it means surely. When He says surely, it will be well with me, nobody can change it. He says surely, by His stripes I am healed, and nobody can change this. He says surely, everything I do shall...More
