He who believes in him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practising evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.

Thoughts on the Gospel of John (32)
The measure of God's love towards mankind has been revealed . Through Jesus Christ God offers man His hand in reconciliation. It is up to us to grasp it and trust in Jesus, the Son of God.

What happens if we do not believe in Jesus Christ? God has already sealed our fate: we must expect judgment! Does it strike us that eternal blessing or eternal judgment does not depend on the good or evil that we have done; it is our attitude towards Christ that is decisive.

Nobody can pass Christ nonchalantly by. Nor can anyone complain that he failed to see the issue. In Christ "light" entered the world: God's ways and God's will were absolutely clear. No-one need grope any longer in the dark. But whoever avoids the divine light shows that he has a bad conscience.

Whoever uncovers his evil deeds before God by confessing them receives forgiveness in Christ and need not fear being exposed. He is one of those who "does the truth" and realises that any good work can only come about through an intimate relationship with God.
