Thoughts on the Gospel of John (36)

He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure. The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand. He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.
John 3: 34 - 36.

Thoughts on the Gospel of John (36)
For centuries God had spoken to His people Israel through His prophets, but the truth concerning God and mankind had never been fully revealed. Only a part of its entirety had been discernible. Now, however, the Son of God Himself had appeared, and it became evident who God is, how He thinks and what He proposes doing. Jesus Christ acted and spoke through the Holy Spirit, and not "by measure" but without any restriction. .

What then follows gives us insight into the relationship of the Persons of the deity: "The Father loves the Son." His love is not measurable, either in time, having no beginning or end, or in its intensity, since nothing could ever limit or influence the love between God the Father and God the Son.

All things have been given to the Son of God: creation, redemption and even judgment. He is faithful and will carry out God's counsel in every detail. And He Himself is the gift of God, by which all will be decided - even our eternal fate.

We do not have to wait until eternity to discover whether there is eternal life. Whoever believes in the Son of God at the present time receives eternal life here and now. What that involves is known only by those who believe. All others remain in the dark and can only expect God's wrath.

(to be continued next Sunday)

UNCOVERING EVIL

The presence of the supernatural power of God in a church can take that church beyond limits.
It can also uproot the presence of evil in the midst of Gods children. In Acts 5, a couple were uprooted through this. If we are going to sanitise the church, we need the Holy Spirit. Just as we need Him to heal, save...More

And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; ...More

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)

In the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time, but has manifested in its own due season His word.
(Titus 1:2-3)

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)
I can lie. Titus could too, and so could the Cretans. But God can not lie. I can deceive. But...More
